Description
|
Exciting a WG8 rectangular waveguide in the TE10 mode as a drive to model devices like microwave ovens. The waveguide has dimensions width = 11.0 cm and height = 5.5 cm. The example illustrates specification of a source layer to create a single-mode wave carrying a specified power (900 W) and also definition of an effective absorber.

The upper figure shows a probe signal to confirm that the Aether time-domain solution has relaxed to a steady state for conversion to a frequency-domain solution. The lower figure shows plots of Ez (at a reference phase of 45 degrees) and |Ez| in the plane z = 0.0. The propagation direction is in x. In the |Ez| plot, the VSWR of 1.074 implies that the downstream absorbing layer reflects only about 0.1% of the incident power.
